Check availabilityShoes: do not skip this
Closed-toe shoes or water shoes are not optional. Algae makes the rock and steps genuinely slippery. Sandals and flip-flops are a bad idea and some tour operators ban them outright. Bring real shoes with grip.
Swimwear and towel
Bring swimwear unless you plan to stay dry, which is not why you are going. Bring a towel.
Water and snacks
Bring water. Bring snacks. The cold water and the walk tire you out faster than you expect. Sha's restaurant is at the parking area if you want a full meal, but bring some basics for the time on the trail.
Cash
Bring $10 cash for parking, and extra cash if you want food or drinks at Sha's. The lot does not take cards.
Sunscreen and insect repellent
Bring biodegradable sunscreen. Sunscreen without biodegradable certification damages coral and marine life. Bring insect repellent. The river valley is humid.
Waterproof phone case
If you bring a phone, bring a waterproof case. Phone signal is unreliable and you should have downloaded the map already, but a waterproof case protects what you bring.
Do not bring
No coolers. No glass. No littering. No smoking. Plan your timing to avoid crowds.
